Biarritz Airport merges its existing video surveillance system to IP using Axis Video Server
Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne Airport, located in the French Basque Country, decided in March 2006 to upgrade its existing video surveillance system in order to strengthen the airport’s security. With a base of only 10 analogue cameras, security needed to be expanded and arranged throughout the entire airport. In order to provide effective video surveillance all video feeds now needed to be centralized.
Among the new requirements was the need to monitor the airports restricted areas with a motion detection system. Further monitoring was also required in the airports inspection, filtering and baggage search stations. All of this had to be achieved according to the French Civil Aviation Agency standards. With cost-effectiveness in mind, Biarritz Airport opted to merge its existing network of analogue cameras with Axis video servers, allowing them to meet their technological requirements, and their budget concerns.
